Wida's Authoring Suite - Version II now available

Wida has now released the latest version of the Authoring Suite. This is available at an upgrade price to users of the current version which has been available since 1997.

Users of the older MSDOS versions of the programs incorporated in the Authoring Suite - Storyboard, Gapmaster, Matchmaster, Choicemaster, etc, - are not eligible for upgrades, but try us to see what discounts we can offer off the full price.

What does Wida's Authoring Suite II have to offer?

  • New look and feel
Both Teacher and Student programs have been given an extensive face-lift. The 'flow' of the Student program has also been redesigned for maximum simplicity and clarity.

  • More multimedia formats
You can now attach more picture, sound and video formats. These include .jpg, .wmf, .emf, .gif and .bmp (pictures); .mp3, .aif, .asf, .mid and .wav (sounds); .mpeg, .mpg, .mov and .avi (video).

  • Multimedia glossaries
Glossary entries can now feature pictures (useful for objects, actions, etc.) and sounds (useful as a pronunciation guide).

  • Improved word-processing features
In continuous texts (Introductions, Help pages, and Gapmaster and Storyboard texts) teachers can now draw tables, insert pictures, and set margins, tabs and line spacing. You can use tables for displaying information in Help pages, and (in Gapmaster) for table-completion tasks.

  • Extended student printing
The Student Print facility (if switched on by the teacher) allows learners to select - and preview - elements to print, including introduction and help pages.

  • Maximised Student screen
Teachers can set the Student program to 'maximised', if they don't want learners distracted by other things on the computer desktop.

  • Item choice in Snap and Memory
When using Matchmaster files with more than 10 pairs of items, students can now select the items they want to work with (or they can ask for a random selection).

  • Word-list feature in Vocab
Vocab has a new help feature: an alphabetical list of all the items, which learners can call up at any time. This feature can be switched on or off by the teacher.

  • On the downside
We have reluctantly dropped support for Windows 3.x versions (dating back to the early 1990's). If you can't move on, Version 1.9 will be available for the next two years). We have to move on to take advantage of all the features offered by Windows 95 and later.
